If you:
- are in Japan
- wants to have mobile internet connection using your notebook
- have ubuntu (or linux in general, particularly Linux Mint Daryna) on your notebook
then you can try EM Mobile. If the sales promotion guy/girl said that EM Mobile can only be used on Windows Japan, IGNORE IT! Then,
- Get the Huawei D01HW USB Modem from EM Mobile.
- Plug the USB Modem to your USB Port on your notebook
- Open command line, execute dmesg, check if the modem is detected, and find where it is attached to, usually it would be /dev/ttyUSB0 or /dev/ttyUSB1
- Open GnomePPP and Configure it.
- Use the modem device (/dev/ttyXXXX)
- Use username: em and password: em
- Connect
If you’re in the coverage of em mobile, then you should be able to connect to the internet.
–my first post in Japan
